Pier 66 vs Pier 91: Seattle Cruise Terminal Guide

Seattle has two cruise terminals, and they are in quite different places. Pier 66 is right on the downtown waterfront. Pier 91 is a few miles north, near Magnolia. Knowing which one your ship uses, and how to get there, makes sailing day a lot calmer.

Pier 66: Bell Street Cruise Terminal

  • Address: 2225 Alaskan Way, Seattle, WA 98121
  • Where it is: on the downtown waterfront, between the Seattle Aquarium and the Olympic Sculpture Park, a short walk from Pike Place Market
  • Berths: one
  • From SeaTac: about 14 miles, usually 30 to 45 minutes
  • Drop-off: the curb lane on Alaskan Way, right in front of the terminal

Pier 66 is the easy one to pair with a night downtown before you sail. Many downtown hotels are only 5 to 15 minutes away by car.

Pier 91: Smith Cove Cruise Terminal

  • Address: 2001 W Garfield Street, Seattle, WA 98119
  • Where it is: on the north waterfront between Magnolia and Interbay
  • Berths: two
  • From SeaTac: about 17 miles, usually 30 to 45 minutes
  • Getting in: from Elliott Avenue W over the W Galer Street flyover, then follow the signs to cruise passenger drop-off

Because Pier 91 has two berths, two ships can be boarding on the same morning, and the approach roads get busy. Leave extra time on summer weekends.

Which terminal is my ship using?

Here is the 2027 season from the Port of Seattle’s published schedule:

  • Pier 66 (Bell Street): Norwegian Cruise Line (Norwegian Bliss, Norwegian Encore and Norwegian Joy) and Oceania Cruises (Oceania Riviera), plus single calls by a few smaller ships.
  • Pier 91 (Smith Cove): Carnival, Celebrity (Celebrity Edge), Holland America, MSC, Princess, Royal Caribbean and Virgin Voyages.
  • Watch out for Norwegian Jade: its September 2027 sailings leave from Pier 91, not Pier 66.

Schedules can change during the season, and ships are assigned to a pier by sailing, so always check your cruise documents. Our Which pier is my ship? table lists every ship. When you book a transfer with us, send your ship and sailing date and we will confirm the pier.

Tips for sailing day

  • Fly in the day before if you can. Missing the ship costs far more than a hotel night.
  • Keep documents and medications in your carry-on. Checked bags reach your stateroom later in the day.
  • Count your bags, not just your people. A sedan takes about 3 suitcases, an SUV about 6 and a Sprinter van 10 or more.
  • Book both directions together, so your disembarkation pickup is locked in at a flat rate.

Disembarkation day

We time your pickup to your disembarkation group. Cruise pickups include 30 minutes of free wait time, then $1 per minute, and your chauffeur stays in touch by phone or text. From the pier we drive you to SeaTac, your hotel or your home.

Sailing from Vancouver instead?

Some Alaska cruises leave from Canada Place in Vancouver. We drive from Seattle across the border to the terminal, with one hour of border time included in every quote. See our Seattle to Vancouver BC car service.
